Located in Abashiri, Hokkaido, Lake Notoro is a large lagoon connected to the Sea of Okhotsk. Every September, its shores near Ubaranai turn bright red as the coral grass (salicornia) changes color, creating one of Hokkaido's most surprising autumn landscapes.
