Located deep in the Iya Valley in Miyoshi, Tokushima Prefecture, Nagoro is a tiny mountain hamlet where life-sized handmade scarecrows far outnumber the few remaining residents. Started by local resident Ayano Tsukimi to recreate villagers who had passed away or moved away, the dolls can be seen fishing, chatting at bus stops and even sitting in an old school classroom.
