Located in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture, Mount Iwaki is a sacred stratovolcano affectionately known as Tsugaru Fuji due to its symmetrical conical shape. A central site of mountain worship (sangaku shinko) for centuries, it hosts the historic Iwaki Shrine at its base and serves as the destination for the annual Oyama-kamairi pilgrimage.
