Located in Niimi, Okayama Prefecture, Saidouji Temple is a mountain sanctuary originally founded in 811 by Kobo Daishi and historically associated with prayers for safe childbirth and local Hoso pottery origins. Nestled amidst lush hills, the site is widely celebrated for its striking tunnel of 78 pure white torii gates (Hakuryumon) and thousands of hydrangeas and irises that bloom across the grounds each summer.
