Located in Ine, on the northern coast of Kyoto Prefecture, Ine is a fishing village famous for its funaya: around 230 wooden boathouses built right on the water's edge, with a boat garage on the ground floor and living space above. Lining the calm Ine Bay, the village is one of Japan's most picturesque seaside landscapes and can be admired from a small sightseeing boat.
